- (6/7/1848 Paris-5/9/1903 Marquesas Island) (France / Polynesia) Painter, sculptor, ceramicist, graphic artist, seaman, bank employee, and writer. He trained under the sculptor Jule Bouillot, studied at the Academie Colarossi, and with Pissaro.
